Founded Adventures for Kids, a bookstore devoted to bringing children and books together. Bookstore was award the Lucile Micheels Pannell Award for Excellence in Children's Programming and also the Charles S. Haslam Award for Excellence in Bookselling. Other awards include the California Reading Association's Celebrate Literacy Award.

Currently, I am waiting to hear from my publisher on a middle grade novel I have co-authored with my stepdaughter Elizabeth Shapiro, It is set in El Salvador where Liz was a Peace Corps Volunteer for over two years. Also I am working on two other books for middle grade.
